Job description

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Commercial Assistant. This role will be remote with occasional travel to Donnington, Telford

Join our vibrant, inclusive community in the Commercial team working on Complex Facilities within Defence. Working on the refurbishing and maintenance of military housing on behalf of DIO. Assisting the Commercial team in carrying out the commercial and contractual post contract duties in support of Accounts, Projects and Frameworks.

Ensuring all contractual and commercial administration and records are maintained to ensure the recovery of contractual entitlement, compliance with all governance, legislation and company and contractual policies. Providing support to Supply Chain procurement.

What you will do:
  • Assist in the delivery of commercial best practice with risk, change, cost, and value management.
  • Assist in the identification, mitigation and management of opportunity and risk.
  • Work with Finance to ensure the full cost control of project(s) including providing and monitoring budgets and forecasts
  • In conjunction with the commercial and operational teams, assisting in the delivery of all commercial activities on the project including CVR reporting, and WIP management in line with contractual entitlement.
  • Assist in the collation of data/facts with respect of all variations (changes) to the works in conjunction with other project team members.
  • Ensure that all contemporary records are kept and filed by the project team members for use in supporting claims, extensions of time, and the evaluation of variations.
  • Administer a robust coding structure to facilitate accurate cost capture. Producing monthly and/or weekly cost and value data to assist the Commercial team in submitting timely applications for payment, change requests and any additional contractual requirements.
  • Work within time periods required under the Contract(s) and as required by the Company.
  • Adhere to all company policies and to the Amey systems, processes, and procedures on Contracts of varying sizes.
  • Support the Commercial and Procurement teams in all aspects of subcontract procurement and payment in accordance with governance and fair payment processes.

Able to apply Health and Safety compliance and knowledge of Health, Safety, and Welfare and Environmental awareness legislation

  • Ability to communicate clearly with varying internal and external customers
  • Basic commercial and financial acumen
  • Applies analytical and problem-solving skills to meet deadlines through prioritisation and good time-management
  • Understands, demonstrates and promotes an inclusive working environment
  • Some quantity surveying/commercial management experience or equivalent transferrable profession
  • Evidence of previously application of skills in either financial, commercial or contract management of projects
