Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Womens, Childrens and Clinical Services Directorate. The post is for a Clinical Risk Midwife on a permanent contract.

We require a dedicated experienced midwife who has a passion for patient safety and quality of care. The post holder alongside a fulltime Clinical Risk Midwife will be responsible for ensuring all Datix reports are investigated and evaluated appropriately. The post holder must have the ability to chair multidisciplinary meetings, write reports and undertake audits. Excellent organisational skills are required in addition to the ability to investigate incidents in a unbiased manner.

Our unit is modern and progressive with approximately 3000 births per year. We have an inpatient service which consists of a Consultant Led Unit, Alongside Midwife Led Unit, Induction of Labour unit, Maternity Assessment and Maternity ward. Our Outpatient services include Antenatal clinics based in both Victoria Hospital and Queen Margaret Hospital. Our Community midwives are based in Victoria Hospital, Queen Margaret Hospital and Andrews Community Hospital. In addition we have a Birth at Home team, Specialist Midwifery services which include Bereavement, Perinatal, Vulnerable in Pregnancy and Fetal Medicine. Best Start work achieved so far includes one continuity of carer team (Bethune) in addition with progressing with Transitional Care. We are currently focussing on increasing our rates of continuity of carer in the first instance.

Fife is situated on the East coast of Scotland, nestled between Edinburgh and Dundee. Fife has been the ancestral home of Scottish monarchs, world-famous for its golf and some of Scotland's best scenic attractions; the Kingdom of Fife has a distinct identity. The Forth Road and Rail Bridges are the most memorable sights on this stretch of coastline. Fife main towns are Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes and St Andrews, Scotland's oldest university town, the home of the world-famous Royal and Ancient golf club. Along the coast there are the fishing villages of the East Neuk, the Fife Coastal Path can be enjoyed by recreational and serious walkers.
