Job Summary

Our children’s home in Walkden, Salford provides residential care for children and young people with autism and learning difficulties. We are looking for a Children’s Residential Support Worker to join our experienced team. In this role you will work under the leadership of the Registered Manager in a caring home environment, nurturing and supporting young people and providing them with the care, love and support they would receive in a family home.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create a caring, safe, secure and accepting environment that meets the physical, health, social needs and rights of the young people.
  • Maximise educational opportunities and achievements for the young people by identifying, establishing and supporting educational provision and contributing to educational reviews.
  • Undertake direct work designed to meet each young person’s needs as identified within the care plan, enabling them to reach their full potential.
  • Support young people with their individual personal care needs, such as continence care, body and hair washing, dressing and encouraging independence.
  • Undertake domestic duties, including cooking and cleaning to a high standard, in line with health and safety policies.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience of working in a residential setting, carrying out the full range of duties in a well‑planned way that respects and values the young people as individuals.
  • Flexibility to respond to the needs of the unit and young people.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to write reports.
  • Good organisational and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, taking the lead when required and maintaining open and honest communication.
  • Transferrable skills are acceptable if you do not have direct experience working with children.
Hours & Remuneration

37.5 hours per week, worked over 5 shifts per week on a rota system which includes weekend working. Annual salary £24,700.00 (£12.67 per hour) plus biennial increments. Weekend pay is paid at a 25% premium on the hourly rate and there is a sleep‑in payment of £100.80 per sleep.
