Overview

Registered Children's Manager
Location: Merseyside

Salary: £55,000-£70,000 negotiable against experience - plus performance-based enhancements

Hours: Shifts to be discussed to suit individual preference.

Driving license with use of own vehicle is required.

We are looking to place a Registered Children’s Manager to support a brand-new children’s facility, someone who is passionate about making a difference to children’s lives and supporting them with everyday life skills and educational needs. The home supports children who are presenting with difficult and challenging behaviours, having experienced traumatic and life-changing situations. Our client helps to home, rehabilitate and support the children on their path to a better quality of life.

As a Registered Children’s Manager, you will pave the way for change, maintaining high standards of Ofsted regulations and encouraging the children to develop and learn new skills and coping mechanisms. You will look after a team, run the home and keep up to date with best practice at all times.

Your role will be to oversee and implement change and improvement and structure across the home.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the children’s home meets all requirements under Ofsted children’s homes regulations.
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation and guidance.
  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the Children’s home.
  • Present strong leadership and staff management skills.
  • Make decisions about service delivery and development, skills training and so on.
  • Lead on quality assurance and continuous improvement plans.
  • Ensure care is tailored to individual needs, preferences, and rights.
  • Support family members, working with social workers and SEN groups.
  • Promote independence, dignity and rehabilitation for patients.
  • Support complex needs including complex mental health conditions, Autism, and other Learning disabilities or neurodivergent conditions.
  • Management of staff, including recruitment, training and supervision.
  • Ensure staff are competent, supported, and compliant with professional standards.
  • Lead team meetings, appraisals, and development plans.
  • Implement safeguarding policies and procedures; manage incidents, complaints, and concerns effectively.
  • Liaise with families, healthcare professionals, and local authorities.
  • Manage budgets, contracts, and resources efficiently, including funding and care assessments.
Essential experience

You should have proven experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager who is ready to step up, within a children’s residential setting or supported living service – experienced in children’s mental health and complex behavioural issues.

  • Demonstrable experience in service improvement or experience of leading or participating in Ofsted Inspections.
  • In-depth knowledge of Ofsted requirements, Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, and Quality Standards.
  • Hold a Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Care.
  • Hold (or be working towards) the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • A strong understanding in safeguarding, care planning, and trauma-informed practice.
  • A calm, hands-on leadership style, person centred with a holistic approach to care.
  • Experience in managing smaller or 121 care in Children’s home environments.
