Job description
Chief Platform Owner - Enterpise AI Strategy

We are seeking a visionary Chief Platform Owner – Enterprise AI to lead the next phase of our AIите strategy. This is a senior leadership role responsible for translating board-level ambitions into executable programs that deliver real value for customers and colleagues while ensuring safety, compliance and regulatory confidence.

You will act as the senior voice of AI within the organisation, driving strategic coherence and execution across technology, data, risk, procurement, legal, and HR. This is an opportunity to shape the future of AI in our enterprise and influence industry standards.

We’re looking for someone with proven experience in driving organisational transformation, focusing on business readiness and cultural adoption - not just technology implementation. You should be able to embed AI into business processes, prepare teams for change and ensure sustainable adoption across the enterprise.

We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.

This is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract opportunity.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our London or Swindon office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You hữu also find out more about our approach tohybrid working here.

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

What you’ll be doing

You will regularly present progress, insights and strategic recommendations to the Executive Committee (ExCo) and Extended Leadership Team (ELT).

This role requires you to operate as a trusted peer, influencing decision-making at the highest level and ensuring AI initiatives are aligned with organisational priorities and governance standards.

Refreshing and managing the enterprise AI strategy into a funded, tracked programme will be a key driver for this role - making sureJog to establish the AI Target Operating Model, including governance, standards and controls.

About you

You will have/be:

Proven experience in enterprise AI strategy and execution within complex organisations

Demonstrable experience in organisational transformation, with an emphasis on business readiness and cultural change, beyond technology delivery

Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at Board and ExCo level

Deep understanding of AI technologies, governance frameworks and regulatory landscapes

The ability to translate strategic vision into actionable outcomes and measurable value

Comfortable working across multiple functions and driving change at pace

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development

Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
