Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a Chief Engineer capacity is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the technical status of ship machinery and propulsion.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations set by maritime authorities.
  • Maintain the safe and efficient operation of machinery and systems.
  • Supervise watchkeeping in the engine room.
  • Report and manage defects in the maintenance system.
  • Coordinate tasks for Engine Room staff.
  • Promote Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Policies.

Job description

The Company currently have a vacancyfor a Chief Engineerin its PSV fleet based in the UK

** Start date 10/02/2026 ** Permanent Position ** 4 weeks on / off rotation

Suitable candidates require to have worked in a Chief Engineer capacity previously and should hold a UK CoC / UK FSE although we would consider non UK candidates who are willing to apply for the UK equivalent certificate of competency (UK FSE). As the vessel is currently working within the 12 nautical mile zone, the successful candidate will need to hold a UK/Irish passport or hold a valid Frontier Work Permit.

Chief Engineer is responsible for:

  • The technical status of the ship, its machinery and propulsion systems, and for ensuring that all equipment installed onboard is in an operational condition.
  • Ensuring the vessel complies with relevant rules and regulations as issued by the authorities of the flag of the vessel, by Classification Society, by I.M.O. Port Authorities and by the vessels owners’ management.
  • Carrying out the safe, efficient and economic operation and maintenance of all machinery, systems and specialist equipment permanently installed on board, as well as the maintenance of the fabric of the vessel.
  • Ensuring that, in all circumstances and at all times, an effective and efficient watch is maintained in the engine room
  • Reporting defects via company approved planned maintenance system.
  • Promptly updating status and content of defects within company approved planned maintenance system to ensure they are kept up to date and current.
  • Requisitioning stores, spares and equipment for the Engine Department
  • Delegating tasks to Engine Room staff.
  • Actively promoting and progressing the company Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Policy.
  • Actively promoting inter-departmental communications.
