Job summary

A cultural institution in Birmingham is seeking a hands-on Chef to lead food and beverage services, primarily at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery. The ideal candidate will have experience in high-standard food preparation, strong knowledge of food safety, and a passion for delivering an excellent visitor experience. Responsibilities include supervising kitchen staff, managing stock, and contributing to menu development. This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive salary.

Permanent / Full Time

Hours: 37 Hours Per Week (Primarily Wednesday - Sunday)

Salary: £31,000 per annum

Location: Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery

We’re looking for a hands‑on Chef to support and lead the delivery of our visitor‑facing Food & Beverage offer at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, but also support at our other sites.

Key responsibilities
  • Preparing, cooking and serving food to high standards
  • Supervising and training kitchen staff and agency support
  • Accountable for ensuring that allergen information related to your menu is kept up to date
  • Supporting stock control, ordering and kitchen administration
  • Using EPOS systems and maintaining smooth service
  • Contributing to menu development and service improvement
  • Responsible for due diligence procedure set out in Alert 65
What we are looking for

  • Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and allergen management
  • Experience of supervising or supporting teams
