About the Role

We’re looking for a passionate commercially minded Seafood Buyer to join our Manufacturing team in Grimsby. In this key role, you’ll be responsible for shaping and delivering the highest standards for our Myton customers, ensuring exceptional product quality, operational efficiency, and outstanding customer service.

You’ll be the expert voice on seafood within our manufacturing and retail operations, helping to optimise everything from sourcing and quality assessments, yield, waste reduction, and colleague training. This is a fast‑paced, hands‑on role where your decisions will directly impact product quality, availability, and margin.

What You’ll Do
  • Define and implement best‑in‑class operating procedures across the seafood division
  • Ensure all seafood products meet Myton’s food safety and quality standards
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers and maintain a supply base that consistently delivers quality and value
  • Keep up to date with seafood trends and consumer preferences to inform decisions, produce reports for our customers and make recommendations
  • Identify and implement process improvements across manufacturing and retail to boost yield, reduce waste, and improve profitability
  • Benchmark our products against competitors, lead taste panels, and act on customer feedback to elevate our fish offering
  • Train and upskill colleagues in fish handling, display, and quality standards
  • Partner with site and retail teams to enhance service, availability, cleanliness, and overall standards
  • Drive category sales and profitability by improving quality, service, and operational efficiency

We’re after someone with a deep understanding of both fish manufacturing and retail operations, a person who thrives on improving standards and inspiring others to deliver excellence.

Qualifications
  • A strong network with in‑depth knowledge of the UK and international seafood industry
  • Experience working within fresh food retail, ideally in fish or seafood
  • Proven success in driving manufacturing efficiencies and waste reduction
  • Strong influencing, relationship‑building, and communication skills
  • Analytical mindset, confident using data to drive decisions
  • Excellent training and coaching ability
  • A full driving licence and willingness to travel and work flexibly (including retail hours)
