Business Development & Marketing Executive

ROLE PURPOSE

As Business Development & Marketing Executive in Environment & HSR you will support the marketing and business development activity to generate new work within those divisions. Our Environment & HSR colleagues are recognised experts in their fields and the divisions comprise some 400 professional staff. The BD team leads a diverse range of BD and marketing activity and supports key technical winner-doers in driving business growth. You will work with the Senior BD Director and BD Assistant, and collaborate with Operations Directors, Technical and Associate Directors across the UK, as well as our in-house corporate marketing and bids teams.

Your day-to-day will be varied, from generating content for promotional campaigns, social media, and thought leadership articles, to direct client outreach, events, and input to bids and proposals. You will also lead and complete discrete tasks and BD/marketing activity in your own right. You’ll be highly visible within the divisions due to the network of colleagues and external contacts in client organisations. A strong understanding of BD and marketing, especially in multi-disciplinary professional services firms, is an important requirement.

Role footprint: roughly 70% Environment and 30% HSR. This role can be based from any Tetra Tech RPS Consulting office and is hybrid, requiring a minimum of two days per week in the office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Marketing – Generate content for campaigns and content production including website content, reference project case studies, thought leadership articles, podcasts, and social media posts. Work with the central Marketing team to raise profile and drive new sales and growth in key markets and service areas.
  • Experience in webinar platforms for events and familiarity with AI for market research is advantageous.
  • Monitor and report on campaign success and identify areas for improvement.
  • Client Relationship Management – Coordinate and support relationships with key clients and service frameworks to generate new work. Generate market intelligence on existing and target key clients to inform marketing and BD activity. Prepare reports for client framework review meetings. Monitor and report progress for management input.
  • Bids, Tenders and Client Enquiries – Support bidding activity with the central Bid team on larger multi-disciplinary bids. Manage and follow up on client leads and enquiries, support proposal content and information for supplier evaluations, pre-qualifications, bids, tenders, and related presentations. Contribute to cross-operating unit tenders and gather market intelligence and data to identify new opportunities.
  • Client Events – Organise and participate in client events from local/division level to Tetra Tech level. Source venues, manage guest lists and invitations, organise logistics, attend and follow up with clients.
  • Reporting – Monitor and report progress on marketing activity and work generation. Support the Senior BD Director with monthly reporting on marketing ROI, budget monitoring, and performance metrics (e.g., SEO and website performance).

PERSON SPECIFICATION

MANDATORY Training & Qualification Requirements

  • Previous work experience in professional services consultancy.

BENEFICIAL Training, Qualifications, or Equivalent Work Experience

  • Ability to build rapport with colleagues and potential clients to communicate the company’s value proposition.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency and familiarity with tools used to manage leads and client information.
  • Further education qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Institute of Marketing qualification or similar is advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience in environmental, engineering, and/or planning consultancy is desirable but not essential.
  • A valid UK driving license would be advantageous for commuting to offices.
