We work collaboratively across 10 countries to collect, connect and understand complex data, so that governments, nation states, armed forces and commercial businesses can unlock digital advantage in the most demanding environments.

Job Title: Business Consultant
Requisition ID: 120495
Location: London or Manchester – Hybrid working offered, with consideration for both full and part-time applicants – please speak to your recruiter about the options
Grade: GG08 – GG13

Are you looking for a consulting role that really makes a difference?

We are proud of the work we do in National Security and the difference we make to the safety and prosperity of the UK.

We are growing rapidly and are looking for experienced business consultants to join our teams.

Consulting in National Security

Our consultants support our customers in implementing change throughout the lifecycle of their most challenging projects; from business justification and strategy development through to design, planning and implementation.

Building trusted relationships is at the heart of what we do: we collaborate closely with our customers to fully understand their business objectives and challenges. We identify risks, areas for improvement and opportunities, and provide strategic advice in an objective manner, delivering innovative solutions to help our customers through complex strategic challenges.

If you have experience of assisting customers in articulating and achieving their strategic goals, we would love to hear from you.

Experience in the digital, technology, and/or cyber domains would be great, but is not essential.

Other helpful skills and knowledge include designing and implementing new business structures, developing business cases, and providing regulatory and policy advice. Experience in briefing, providing advice, and developing trusted relationships with public sector customers, and an understanding of the organisational landscape of UK government agencies would also be helpful.

The only way BAE Systems DI grows is by having people who are constantly progressing. Our Consulting Development Framework supports what is expected of our consultants, and all competencies are designed to support performance and career development. This framework enables our people to make informed decisions about their strengths, development areas and the type of work and roles that will enable them to build their career successfully. This information leads to a sense of autonomy, which is critical to the progression of our consultants. If you currently have process mapping or business change skills, and aspire to gain experience and expertise in digital transformation and strategy development, we will support you in realising your career aspirations.

Security Clearance

Due to the nature of our work, successful candidates for this role will be required to hold an active eDV before applying for this opportunity.

Gold-rated Consultancy

BAE Digital Intelligence was the only organisation in the Aerospace and Defence sector to receive a Gold rating in the Financial Times' UK's Leading Management Consultants 2023 listing.

How We Will Support You
  • Competitive salary and bonus scheme
  • Our flexible benefits package includes private medical and dental insurance, share incentive scheme, a competitive pension, income protection, cycle to work scheme, and more
  • Work‑life balance is important; you'll get 25 days holiday a year and, via our flexible benefits package, the option to buy/sell and carry over from the year before
  • You will have a dedicated Career Manager to help you develop your career and guide your journey through BAE
  • Professional skills training and development
  • Support to achieve Chartered Management Consultant status through accreditation with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI)
  • You will automatically be part of our Management Consulting Community, which can support your professional development and help build your network internally
  • You are welcome to join any/all of our Diversity and Support groups. These groups cover everything from gender diversity to mental health and well‑being.
Why BAE Systems?

This is a place where you'll be able to make a real difference. You'll be part of an inclusive culture that values diversity of thought, rewards integrity, and merit, and where you'll be empowered to fulfil your potential. We welcome people from all backgrounds and want to make sure that our recruitment processes are as inclusive as possible. If you have a disability or health condition (for example dyslexia, autism, an anxiety disorder etc.) that may affect your performance in certain assessment types, please speak to your recruiter about potential reasonable adjustments.

Please be aware that many roles at BAE Systems are subject to both security and export control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
