Business Administrator Apprentice Vacancy

Based in Walshaw, Bury (Greater Manchester), Poppy Fire Ltd operates in the fire‑and‑security sector. Poppy Fire provides a range of fire‑protection services, including the servicing and maintenance of fire‑safety systems (such as portable fire extinguishers, fire detection and alarm systems) and other related facilities‑management support. Poppy Fire is positioned to deliver timely, local fire safety support and is known by customers for its efficient, courteous service and competitive pricing.

About the vacancy

Immediate start for a motivated and detail‑oriented individual to join our small, supportive team as a Business Administrator. The role plays an important part in keeping our operations running smoothly, providing vital support across both administrative and client‑facing areas.

  • Handle incoming and outgoing communications – including emails, calls, and post – ensuring timely and appropriate responses.
  • Organise and coordinate meetings.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date records and filing systems.
  • Communicate with clients to provide updates and request any outstanding documentation.
  • Demonstrate a professional and polite telephone manner at all times.
  • Confident use of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well‑organised, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage a varied workload effectively.
  • Comfortable dealing with colleagues and clients in a professional and confident manner.
  • Ensure all data is processed and stored in line with relevant legislation, with full regard for security and confidentiality.
  • Accurately input and update internal data systems as required.
    Process documentation quickly and accurately to support team operations.
  • Receive and manage client files, uploading key information to online portals (full training will be provided).

You will receive the following training:

  • Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard.
  • This qualification requires college attendance once per month.

Outcome

We are offering the right person a long‑term career and a permanent position within the company upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

The starting salary is £15,704 a year for 40 hours Monday to Friday, 8.00am - 4.00pm.

The apprenticeship will run for 1 Year 9 Months.
