A public university in the UK is seeking a Grounds Worker to maintain and clean grounds areas around campus buildings. Responsibilities include performing physically strenuous tasks and adhering to a daily schedule for maintenance work. The position requires 3 to 12 months of related experience and the ability to follow cleaning procedures. The role is full-time and may require work outside normal business hours. Candidates should be prepared for physical exertion as part of their duties.
Provide institutional support for state agencies and universities in the areas of building environmental services and groundskeeping. Employees perform a variety of duties in the maintenance and cleaning of grounds areas around athletic fields, dormitories, offices, welcome centers, and other campus buildings. Work is guided by a daily schedule with a task list for general assignments. Work is performed subject to close review and inspection, with problems and special assignments not covered by instructions referred to a supervisor. Duties may include physically strenuous activities such as moving heavy equipment and delivering large quantities of groundskeeping supplies and equipment. Work is routine and repetitive and may require strenuous physical exertion. The position also performs coverage for short-staff situations as well as event coverage during and outside normal campus business hours. This position is designated as Mandatory Personnel for certain types of adverse weather or emergency events.
