Title: Barista

Location: Time Out Market, New York

Reporting to: Market Management

About the role

We love what we do – and it shows! Time Out Market is the division of Time Out that brings our food and cultural experiences to life for our guests, readers and clients. Our Market Bar‑backs provide outstanding guest service and product to ensure that each of our guests enjoy a memorable experience with each visit.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a unique coffee and food‑forward experience for every customer, including keeping up with production demand throughout the day.
  • Serve as a coffee and food expert, providing exceptional knowledge of food and beverage products and the ingredients used in those products.
  • Demonstrate impeccable composure and the ability to thrive in ambiguous situations.
  • Maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events.
  • Provide quality beverages, whole bean, and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards.
  • Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and standards.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Adhere to all company cash handling policies including handling cash and credit card transactions, providing accurate change, and issuing receipts.
  • Appear in uniform for all shifts at scheduled time.
  • Keep the bar top clean and free of dirty glasses, trash, etc. throughout the shift.
  • Keep your workstation clean and organized.
  • Inform management of any complaint, comments or incident.
  • Behave and communicate in a friendly and professional manner with all guests.
  • Provide information to guests regarding our venue, menus and pricing.
  • Adhere to all company standard operating procedures. Maintain all company service sequence standards.
  • Maintain line of sight/atmosphere control by circulating through your work area throughout shift.
  • Comply with all safety and health department procedures as well as Company and/or departmental policies/procedures and all state and federal liquor laws.
