Bank Support Worker

Compensation: £12.90 / hour

Description

Priory SL South Wales is looking to recruit a Bank Support Worker / Banc Gweithiwr Cefnogi to join the team. We support seven non-ambulant, non-verbal tenants with complex health needs, guided by health professionals. We’re seeking compassionate support workers to ensure a safe and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities include manual handling, medication, mealtime and money management, health appointments, and correspondence. We also offer sensory activities and regular community outings like shopping, cinema, and holidays.

What you'll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our resident wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As a Bank Support Worker, you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents.

  • Through own professional behaviour, including adhering to policies and procedures, contributes to the maintenance of safety, security and confidentiality standards.
  • To undertake key working responsibility for individual service users, supporting the individual to plan goals and personal outcomes and ensure that these are comprehensively documented and reviewed.
  • The role holder should have a flexible and innovative approach to their work and be able to facilitate and support service users in decision making, promoting choice and involvement at all times.
  • The role holder should present the service in a positive light and should be proactive in making suggestions for how to improve the service.

What you'll bring to the role

Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.

The ideal candidate will hold an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or a related area, or an equivalent or higher recognised qualification. They should also have GCSEs or an NVQ Level 2 in English and Maths. It is acknowledged that not all new recruits will have obtained the NVQ Level 2 qualification upon appointment; however, they will be expected to begin the process of attaining it within six months of joining and complete it within a specified timeframe. While experience of working in a related environment is desirable, it is not essential.

Social Care Wales

As of October 2022 it will be mandatory for all care workers in Wales to register themselves with Social Care Wales.
