Bank Sonographer MSK/Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Join Croydon Health Services NHS Trust as a Bank Sonographer (Band 7) specialising in Musculoskeletal (MSK), Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Position details:

  • Employment type: Full‑time
  • Senior level: Mid‑Senior
  • Location: Croydon University Hospital (cross‑site at Purley Memorial Hospital/CDC centres)
  • Band: 7 – Enhanced Practice Sonographer, Radiology

The successful candidate will work as an MSK Sonographer ensuring the Ultrasound services at Croydon are delivered effectively. Responsibilities include:

  • Act as an autonomous practitioner whilst maintaining a close working relationship with the Lead Sonographer, Service Manager and key referring clinicians to deliver an efficient, high‑quality Ultrasound service.
  • Support the planning, development, organisation and delivery of Ultrasound and specific sub‑specialty ultrasound training for sonographers and medical staff, collaborating with the Lead Sonographer and Lead Radiologist.
  • Provide highly specialist, expert clinical ultrasound knowledge, acting as a clinical resource in the department.
  • Supervise, motivate and develop other staff as appropriate through undergraduate and postgraduate Ultrasound training.
  • Provide specialist input into the Trust clinical governance agenda, influencing delivery of patient care, and work at any site as required.

The department performs in excess of 250,000 examinations per annum, uses up‑to‑date equipment, and is part of a large urban District General Hospital serving a diverse population of 360,000.
