We are currently recruiting for a passionate and motivated Avionic Instructor/Analyst to work within our outstanding Training Academy, based in Yeovil. The main purpose of your position is to deliver training, in support of our products, to meet the requirements of both internal and external customers, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. In addition, you will develop training material by researching and evaluating content from technical documents and provide subject‑matter expertise for the creation of high‑quality, complex synthetic training devices for Leonardo Helicopters and external customers.
This role is a JFF Level 5 (Business Support).
What You Will Do
- Develop training material with due regard to agreed look, style, presentational form and standards.
- Deliver training (to customers and the internal workforce) to the required standard and meet fully the needs of the customer.
- Through training development and delivery, ensure the highest standards of customer satisfaction by identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Keep your technical/professional knowledge up‑to‑date and share it with other team members.
- Provide subject‑matter expertise for the development of high‑quality, complex synthetic training devices for internal and external customers.
- Support training in the UK and at customer locations overseas.
- Undertake collation and evaluation of engineering documentation to create and develop specific aircraft system training material within the Learning Content Management System.
- Lead subject‑matter expert (SME) for your nominated systems.
- Provide backup for the lead SME for systems where you are nominated as deputy SME.
- Deliver system training in a practical environment, adhering to all required legislation.
- Deliver system training on an occasional basis with the customer in aircraft trial scenarios in the UK or overseas.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements including Health and Safety, COSHH and Security regulations that relate to you or your students during both theoretical and practical training evolutions.
- Carry out tasks within the designated budget and report potential overspends against those agreed budgets.
- Identify areas of potential cost saving.
- Create student examination questions in your area of expertise to support customer‑specific student examinations.
- Invigilate student examinations.
What You’ll Bring
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to be effective in training and internal correspondence.
- Understanding of the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) and modern training analysis systems.
- A formally recognised teaching qualification, or willingness to study towards one.
- Educated as an aeronautical engineer to HNC level and/or completion of a recognised Aeronautical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent.
- At least 5 years’ experience relevant to the helicopter industry or a military helicopter environment.
- Computer literacy and competence in using computerised multi‑media training packages, primarily the Learning Content Management System (LCMS), training emulations and presentation suites.

This role is subject to pre‑employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
