The Office

Established in 1984 and located in the heart of the City, our Exeter office is a full-service law firm supporting corporate and individual clients in the South West and beyond. Our Real Estate team advises on investment and development across commercial and residential sectors, with a focus on construction, employment, litigation, property finance, and corporate matters.

The Exeter Real Estate Team includes fee earners advising on development schemes, regeneration projects, and multi-million pound commercial investments for institutional investors.

The Real Estate team

Real Estate is a key focus of our business. About 60% of our lawyers practice in the sector across investment, finance, development, construction, asset management, planning, environmental and dispute resolution. We are ranked among the UK's top Real Estate practices.

What you'll be doing

As an Associate you will work in the Investment and Development Practice within our Real Estate group, handling deals involving commercial land (retail, industrial, telecoms and offices). You will have the opportunity to work on acquisitions and disposals, development, real estate finance, regeneration and joint venture projects. The role supports a varied client base across private and public sectors and involves collaboration with Corporate, Banking & Finance, Litigation, Projects & Construction and Energy & Sustainability teams.

Your work will include:

  • Involvement in all types of property transactions for developers, investors, and public/private sector bodies
  • Sales and acquisitions
  • Asset management, including landlord & tenant matters
  • Real Estate finance, including preparing CLLS Certificates of Title and managing conditions precedent
  • Project management and collaboration with other specialist teams on complex matters
  • Compliance with core competencies appropriate to the fee earner level
  • Building and maintaining client relationships where possible
  • Active participation in marketing initiatives and training sessions
  • Running own files and ensuring compliance with Lexcel procedures
