Overview

The Associate Buyer role at Mortenson enables an individual to partner with project teams and suppliers to secure materials, supplies, equipment and services. This position is part of Mortenson’s BLUvera Group, a vertically integrated manufacturing and fabrication affiliate that leverages advanced design, engineering, 3D modeling and manufacturing to deliver safer and faster construction solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Develop relationships with suppliers: solicit bids, analyze quotations and select suppliers.
  • Purchase items and services at the most favorable price, consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements and other factors.
  • Create and maintain catalogs for each operating group or project.
  • Propose purchase transactions that higher authority approves prior to final action.
  • Arrange returns for unacceptable products to suppliers.
  • Track order status from the time of placing order until delivery and communicate status to project teams.
  • Enter purchase orders and retain contact with suppliers to ensure delivery of material on a timely basis.
  • Visit job sites or office quarterly at a minimum to develop more effective working relationships.
  • Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, construction management or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
  • Software experience.
  • Current driver's license.
  • Knowledge of construction processes, equipment and materials, purchasing and procedures.
  • Negotiating, organizing, verbal and communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and analytical skills.
  • Active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback.
Compensation

Base pay range: $58,100 - $78,400. Pay is positioned within the range based on individual knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration of internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.

Benefits

Travel is not required. Mortenson reserves the right to hire any individual without legal or financial obligation on unwanted solicitations.
