The Opportunity

Join our commercial team and play a key role in supporting the financial delivery of construction projects. You’ll be responsible for accurate measurement and valuation of works, effective supply chain coordination, and maintaining strong cost control processes. Working closely with senior colleagues, you’ll take ownership of specific work packages, helping to maximise project profitability and ensure full contractual compliance.

What you will be doing
  • Follow company commercial procedures with rigorous attention to detail.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records for all commercial activities.
  • Prepare and submit main contract payment applications on time, ensuring effective cash collection.
  • Administer sub-contractor payments and prepare high-quality sub-contract documentation.
  • Monitor and report on sub-contractor performance in collaboration with senior team members.
  • Assist with pricing variations, managing design-related cost control, and contributing to value-engineering exercises.
  • Record project delays and support the preparation of extension of time submissions.
  • Support the settlement of main contract final accounts.
  • Represent the organisation at internal and external meetings when required.
  • Assist with the collation and analysis of contract performance data for monthly and quarterly reporting.
  • Provide guidance and day-to-day support to Trainee or Graduate Quantity Surveyors.
  • Maintain excellent attention to detail while continually developing your professional capabilities.
  • Keep up to date with business continuity procedures.
  • Undertake any additional duties relevant to the role.
What we need from you
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Actively working towards professional accreditation with RICS, CIOB or ICES (preferred).
  • Valid and appropriate CSCS certification (preferred).
  • Experience carrying out measurement and valuation activities on live construction projects.
  • Proven experience managing low-risk sub-contractor packages and administering sub-contract payments accurately.
  • Solid understanding of the construction industry, common contract types, and sub-contract conditions.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, undertake precise take-offs, and understand how drawings, specifications and bills of quantities interrelate.
  • Competence in assessing and valuing variations in line with contractual requirements.
  • Awareness of dispute resolution processes and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Understanding of construction risk management principles.
  • Ability to interpret project programmes, including critical path analysis and awareness of commercial implications.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams and with a variety of stakeholders.
