Purpose of Role

We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial team in delivering a key Ministry of Defence (MoD) facilities management contract.

Job Description

This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their commercial/ financial career in a fast-paced, high-profile environment, working closely with Quantity Surveyors and operational teams to ensure effective financial and contractual management.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Subcontractor & Supply Chain Support

  • Assist in the preparation and administration of subcontracts in line with company and MoD requirements.
  • Support the coordination of subcontractor performance and commercial review meetings.
  • Help review and process subcontractor applications for payment.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation to support subcontractor payments.

Commercial & Financial Administration

  • Support the management of Work in Progress (WIP) and assist in the preparation of financial reports.
  • Liaise with operational teams to gather information for job closure and client billing.
  • Assist in monitoring contract performance, identifying variances and supporting corrective actions.
  • Contribute to the preparation and review of monthly Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports.

Systems & Reporting

  • Use Maximo to support job tracking and asset management processes.
  • Assist with contract and financial administration using CONNECT.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with audit and compliance standards.
  • Support the preparation of internal and client-facing reports and presentations.
Essential Qualifications/Skills
  • Previous experience in a commercial, finance, or administrative support role, ideally within the Facilities Management or Defence sector.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic data analysis and reporting.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Willingness to learn and develop within a commercial environment.
