Job description
Overview

The Department of Mathematics at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor to join the Optimisation and Algorithms group. The post holder will contribute to the intellectual life of the School through conducting and publishing outstanding quality research, engaging in high quality teaching, and participating in School and Department activities.

Qualifications and expertise

Applicants should have a completed PhD, or be close to obtaining a PhD in a discipline related to mathematical optimisation by the intended start date of 1 September 2026. Expertise and research interests related to mathematical optimisation are essential. In addition to applicants furthering the Department’s current areas of specialisation, we welcome those with complementary expertise, notably in continuous optimisation and/or machine learning.
