Job summary

A leading tax advisory firm in the UK is seeking an Assistant Manager to provide tax compliance and advisory services. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in tax, preferably from a practice environment. Responsibilities include managing client portfolios, ensuring compliance, and supporting the advisory function. This is a full-time position aimed at mid-senior level professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tax compliance and advisory services where appropriate.
  • Support the tax advisory function, both personal and corporate.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce other service lines within the business.
  • Utilise technology where appropriate.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring all client and statutory deadlines are met.
  • Plan and manage the tax compliance function to ensure clients are compliant and calculations submitted are accurate and timely.
  • Review technical and financial assessments prepared by other team members.
  • Identify additional opportunities from the review of company records and tax calculations.
About You
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in tax, ideally obtained within practice.
  • CTA qualified.
  • Past management/supervisory experience is beneficial.
  • Experience managing and controlling workflows in a practice environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability to translate complex theories into plain English.
  • Demonstrate a high level of commercial awareness.
  • Project management & leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Can work well under pressure, hit deadlines and respond promptly to requests.
