Assistant Cook in Charge – St Andrews and St Brides High School

Organisation: Coast Concrete Services (South Lanarkshire Council)

Location: St Andrews and St Brides High School, Platthorn Drive, East Kilbride, G74 1NL

Closing Date: Thursday 11th December

Position Details

Hours: 12 hours per week on a term‑time basis (Thursday 8am‑3pm and Friday 8am‑2:30pm)

Pay: £13.64 – £13.79 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Provide quality catering service and advise management on stock or quality control issues.
  • Manage cash counting, balancing, and recording of financial transactions.
  • Prepare, cook and present a varied selection of menu items.
  • Manage function work and transfer food items within and outside the kitchen.
  • Perform practical tasks in relation to the storage, preparation, cooking and service of food, including cleaning of floors, walls, food production areas, equipment and utensils.
  • Supervise a team of Facilities Assistants (Catering)—include training, recruitment, selection, attendance maximisation, and team briefs.

  • Effective communication skills and ability to work independently and prioritise workload.
