Qualifications

There are major ongoing health challenges and inequalities within the city and an ambitious set of strategies have been developed to tackle them. Physical exercise, creativity, learning and community development have been identified to change peoples lives for the better.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Active Communities Development Officer, supporting the creation of an effective and sustainable sport and leisure programme within neighbourhoods, including but not limited to holiday activities for children and young people. This role sits within the Active Communities Team, where you will be expected to work flexibly and in line with the needs of the service.

Candidates should be enthusiastic, motivated, and confident in communicating with colleagues, partners, children and young people at all levels. An interest in delivering physical activity opportunities for children and young people is essential. You will be a dynamic member of the team, contributing to the development and growth of the project while maintaining a high-quality service.

Applicants must ensure they fully complete the application form, clearly detailing how they meet the requirements of the job description and person specification. We are looking for someone who:

  • Demonstrates the ability to plan and prioritise workloads & meet targets.
  • Has the ability to manage team members, including mentoring and development.
  • Has the ability to manage large groups of young people in a community setting.
  • Holds sports, coaching and/or recreation qualifications, such as governing body awards, etc.
  • Demonstrates the ability to prepare reports.
  • Has a Minimum of 2 year’s experience in a sports/leisure industry.
  • Has experience of organising and managing sports events and holiday programmes.
  • Has experience of coaching young people in areas of depravation and of taking positive action to manage groups.
  • Has experience of managing and interpretating data Consistently demonstrates SCL’s behaviours

The payment will be taken back over two payments directly from the first two months salary payments.
