Job description

We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to oversee operational integrity and performance of all production equipment at Saputo Dairy UK. The role involves developing and implementing asset care strategies, conducting regular inspections, utilizing preventative maintenance schedules, and gathering detailed data on equipment performance to derive actionable insights that enhance reliability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee operational integrity and performance of all production equipment, develop and implement asset care strategies, and conduct regular inspections and audits to identify condition‑based maintenance opportunities.
  • Use preventative maintenance techniques to create comprehensive planned maintenance schedules that minimise equipment downtime and improve reliability and availability of plant assets.
  • Interrogate software and gather detailed data on equipment performance (OEE), using analytical tools to interpret data and develop actionable insights to enhance performance and reliability.
  • Assist in planning and evaluating improvement projects, ensuring they align with operational goals.
  • Lead and actively participate in CI projects focused on increasing site reliability, operational efficiency, and safety standards.
  • Provide expert input on potential upgrades and modifications, working with OEMs and contractors to ensure seamless integration.
  • Design and refine fault‑finding procedures and techniques to enable swift and effective issue resolution.
  • Ensure documentation is regularly updated and easily accessible, equipping the engineering team with the knowledge, tools, and methodologies to diagnose and address faults.
  • Collaborate closely with production, quality, and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless and efficient operations through open communication.
  • Optimise line performance to meet and exceed key performance indicators in equipment reliability and efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Relevant education (apprenticeship to HNC level or equivalent) with deep, practical experience in a maintenance or preventative‑related engineering role with a mechanical engineering bias.
  • Experience in engineering practices for maintenance management.
  • Proficiency in condition, vibration, and thermal‑based maintenance techniques, including analysis and interpretation of collected data.
  • Experience with fault‑finding techniques for PLC controls and SCADA systems, and ability to use CMMS systems.
  • Team‑orientated, with the ability to support colleagues and deliver planned maintenance routines independently.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of condition monitoring and preventative maintenance techniques.
  • Able to effectively influence and communicate at all levels.
  • Able to think strategically, multitask, and plan and make decisions.
  • A strong analytical thinker with planning and decision‑making skills.
  • A skilled problem solver, able to raise issues when appropriate and communicate actions and mitigation plans clearly.
