Overview

Arboricultural Operative

East Midlands & National

Competitive base + overtime opportunities & vehicle

Permanent - 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday

What you'll do

We’re looking for an experienced Arboricultural Operative to join our team, where your arb skills will be at the heart of everything you do. You’ll play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality Arboricultural works across a variety of sites, including highways, railways, utilities, and construction projects.

Day to day, you’ll be carrying out a range of tree works, operating specialist machinery where required, maintaining equipment, and supporting your team to complete projects on time and to the highest standard. Safety and environmental awareness will be second nature to you, and you’ll actively contribute to building a positive team culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Arboricultural works: Carry out safe and efficient tree works, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
  • Machinery operation: Operate and maintain equipment and machinery, with training provided if you’re developing plant skills.
  • Team support: Work collaboratively, supporting new team members and promoting a positive, safety-focused culture.
  • Site standards: Maintain tidy and professional worksites, ensuring vehicles and tools are kept in excellent condition.
  • Compliance: Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations (LOLER, COSHH, RAMS, etc.), reporting hazards or near misses.
  • Problem solving: Anticipate challenges on site and take proactive steps to resolve them.
  • Communication: Keep your team and managers updated, ensuring clear and timely information sharing.

What we’re looking for:

Essential Arboriculture Skills & Experience:

  • NPTC: Units 201 & 202 (CS30.1 & 30.2) – Chainsaw maintenance and crosscutting.
  • NPTC: Unit 203 (CS31) – Fell and process trees up to 380mm.
  • NPTC: FMO – Crane-fed chipper and base unit.
  • First Aid + Forestry.
  • UK Driving Licence.
  • Flexibility to work away from home for extended periods.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

Desirable Plant & Additional Skills

  • CPCS Red Card – Excavator (tracked/wheeled, lifting ops, above & below 10 tonnes).
  • NPORS / CPCS Slinger Signaller & Banksman.
  • PTS (Personal Track Safety).
  • Highways Passport.
  • CPCS Tractor Operating.
  • NPTC: Units 206 & 306 (CS38) – Rope & harness and aerial tree rescue.
  • NPTC: Units 308 & 307 (CS39/CS40) – Aerial cutting and pruning.
  • Proven track record of excavator use in arboriculture.
