Associate Scientist – Analytical Development

Oxfordshire | £37,000–£40,000 | Full-time | Permanent

About the Role

As an Associate Scientist in the Analytical Development team, you’ll support the design, development, and execution of analytical assays to help characterise therapeutic proteins. You’ll contribute to method development, routine testing, and data interpretation across a range of experimental platforms, helping drive improvements in bioprocesses and product quality.

This role offers broad exposure to modern analytical technologies and collaborative research, with strong support for professional growth and training.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Supporting the development and execution of analytical assays such as HPLC, UPLC, LC-MS, ELISA, and Western blotting.
  • Conducting experiments with precision and scientific rigour, ensuring data quality and reproducibility.
  • Contributing to the documentation of research findings and generation of SOPs and lab records.
  • Participating in lab operations including maintenance, equipment checks, and consumables management.
  • Collaborating with team members to ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
  • Engaging in group discussions and sharing scientific insights through presentations and data reviews.
  • Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and quality in all lab work.
What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who is detail-oriented, curious, and ready to build a career in analytical sciences within a dynamic biotech environment.

You should have:

  • A BSc or MSc in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related life sciences field.
  • Experience with analytical techniques e.g., HPLC/UPLC, LCMS, ELISA – either through industry or academic research.
  • A good understanding of laboratory practices, experimental design, and data analysis.
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach with a strong willingness to learn and develop.

Bonus if you also bring:

  • Experience with mammalian cell culture (e.g., CHO or HEK293).
  • Familiarity with automated or high-throughput lab systems.
  • Knowledge of bioprocess development or protein characterisation workflows.
