Qualifications

  • Preferred: TVQ or NVQ Level 2 in Decontamination or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the effective preparation of sterile consumables by decontamination and inspection.
  • Check, wash, assemble, and pack sets of theatre instruments to meet specifications.
  • Safely operate and monitor decontamination machines and equipment.
  • Record repairs and missing instruments on the Tracking and Traceability computer system.
  • Return repaired instruments or equipment to stock appropriately.

Working Pattern

12 weeks of full-time training on Monday-Friday at 8:00-16:00. Then, move to full-time permanent shift: Tue-Fri 07:00-15:00, Sat 12:20:00

What is involved
  • Ensuring the effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, linen, instruments, and equipment) by the process of decontamination, inspection assembly and packing within predefined quality standards.
  • Rigorously checking, washing, laying up and packing sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards.
  • Safely operating and monitoring machines and equipment (washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic and sterilisers) effectively.
  • Ensuring that repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak).
  • Ensuring that repaired instruments or equipment are returned to stock or the appropriate coded sets or the Trust’s appointed person.

Required Experience
  • Educated to a good general standard with demonstrable verbal and numerical abilities.
  • Basic end user IT skills to operate track and traceability IT system.
Preferred Experience
  • TVQ or NVQ Level 2 in Decontamination or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience in Sterile Services and/or health related products.
