Location: St Helena Island, South Atlantic

Contract: 2 years FTC starting Month 2025

Salary: £34k-£36k pa, pro rata, depending on experience and qualifications, plus International Supplement

Overview

This role leads, coordinates and develops Mathematics at St Helena’s Secondary School while monitoring and assessing student performance and developing existing tracking systems. You will plan, prepare and deliver appropriate schemes of work including key stage 3, 4 and 5 where applicable, and provide high quality CPD for Mathematics colleagues.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, coordinate and develop Mathematics at St Helena’s Secondary School
  • Monitor and assess student performance and develop tracking systems
  • Plan, prepare and deliver schemes of work for key stages 3, 4 and 5 where applicable
  • Provide high quality CPD for Mathematics colleagues
  • Manage resources and equipment
  • Assist primary school staff with curriculum development and offer Mathematics training across primary schools
  • Contribute to the teaching of Mathematics in Adult Education
Qualifications and Experience
  • UK teaching qualification and QTS
  • Degree level in Mathematics with substantial experience teaching Mathematics at key stages 3, 4 and 5
  • Some overseas experience, preferably in a developing economy
  • Background in CPD for yourself and other staff
  • Experience in numeracy improvement at any level
  • Knowledge of a range of GCSE and A level Mathematics courses and the UK Secondary Curriculum relevant to Maths
