Job description
Accounts Manager / Accountant

Our client, a specialist provider of bespoke ductwork systems and air-handling solutions, is seeking an experienced and motivated Accounts Manager/Accountant to take ownership of their financial operations and play a key role in supporting continued growth and success.

Location: Balton, BL3

Employment: Part-time or full-time (20–38 hours per week), Permanent position

Salary: £18‑£22 per hour

Work authorization: Applicants must be authorised to work in the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and yearly management reports
  • Create and manage P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow budgets
  • Manage CIS (Subcontractor) accounts
  • Process PAYE with RTI completion and submission (Sage Payroll)
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns
  • Prepare year-end accounts (TB, P&L, Balance Sheet)
  • Produce final statutory accounts for Companies House requirements
  • Handle Purchase Ledger functions and supplier payments
  • Conduct credit control activities and chase overdue accounts
  • Process sales invoices and manage petty cash, credit card, and bank reconciliations
  • Perform data entry and filing duties
  • Review statutory accounts and taxation (prepared externally)
  • Collaborate with team members to improve accounting processes and efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
Qualifications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Sage 50 Cloud
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Minimum 5 years’ management accounting experience (preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years’ bookkeeping experience (required)
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Detailed understanding of current accounting standards
  • Experience within the construction industry
  • Recognised accounting qualifications
