Job summary

A leading arts organization is seeking a full-time Stores Technician based in Aberdare, Wales. The role involves maintaining storage areas, unloading and reloading scenery and costumes, and ensuring technical excellence in performances. A strong understanding of warehousing operations and safety standards is required. The Role

Our Technical, Production and Costume Department plays a leading part in ensuring our performances are of the highest quality by delivering technical excellence for every performance, rehearsal, and event.

Our specialist store in Aberdare covers 14,000m² and was built in 1995 with the purpose of storing our custom-made pallet system for Royal Ballet and Opera costumes and scenery. The team working onsite manage the complex needs and statistical logging data for the busy requirements of the organisation in the UK and worldwide.

We are seeking to recruit a Stores Technician for our facility in Aberdare. In this role you will be responsible for maintaining the stores areas to the highest standards of storage and retrieval. You will carry out unloading and reloading of scenery, props, costumes and any equipment to and from the stores.

What You’ll Bring
  • Ability to train in and safely operate loading equipment including but not limited to:
  • 4way narrow-aisle reach truck
  • counterbalance fork truck
  • Mafi EFY 70 four-way reach truck.
  • Chain hoists.
  • An understanding of warehousing and theatre operations
  • User of records systems for warehousing/storage/or distribution
  • Experience in assets management systems for warehousing or distribution
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work unsupervised and show initiative in dealing with day-to-day problems.
  • Strong awareness of and adherence to Health and Safety policy and best practice
