Job description

TheAcute Pain Nurse is a key member of the hospitals multidisciplinary painmanagement team, responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, andevidence-based management of patients experiencing acute pain followingsurgery/trauma.

Main duties of the job

Working closely with anesthetists, surgeons, and ward staff, the Acute Pain Nurse conducts thorough pain assessments, monitors analgesic effectiveness, and provides expert guidance on the use of opioids, regional analgesia, and multimodal pain relief techniques. The role involves delivering education and support to clinical teams, promoting best practices in pain management, and contributing to the development and implementation of hospital-wide pain protocols and policies. Through clinical leadership, audit, and continuous quality improvement, the Acute Pain Nurse ensures that all patients receive timely, compassionate, and person-centered pain care, enhancing recovery and improving overall patient experience within the hospital.
