A community-focused religious organization in Hull and East Yorkshire is seeking a Children, Youth and Families Enabler. This role offers flexibility, allowing work from various churches and home, while focusing on engaging children and families with the ministry. The appointee will be integral to the WILDERNESS Hub team, managing local delivery and contributing to strategic development. The position is fixed term for four years, with initial probation and a competitive salary ranging from £25,419 to £30,095 per year.
The primary purpose of this role is to offer leadership, guidance and support to churches in the Hull Area Team concerning their ministry to and with children, families and young people.
The postholder will identify opportunities to engage with children, families and young people in some areas, and will help to develop existing work in other areas.
The role also includes being part of the Yorkshire Synod WILDERNESS team to deliver a central program of work with children and young people.
This is a flexible post with no fixed office space. The post holder will be expected to work from the churches, and some element of hybrid/home working may also be necessary.
The Hull Area Team is made up of three churches: Zion URC in Cottingham, St Ninian’s and St Andrew’s URC in Hull, and Christ Church (URC & Methodist partnership) in Swanland.
The Children, Youth and Families Enabler will be a part of The WILDERNESS Hub team; the centre of ministry with young people, children and families in the Yorkshire synod. The vision of the WILDERNESS Hub is that our churches should ensure that every child and young person has the opportunity to experience the love of Jesus.
The WILDERNESS Hub and the posts of Wilderness Hub workers, have been created to enable more holistic support for local churches.
It is expected that the appointee will work approximately 50% the time in face-to-face delivery work in the local area, roughly a further 20% of their time will be given over to the WILDERNESS Hub strategic programme, while the remaining 30% is for administrative, organisational and developmental tasks. (NB. These percentages are for guidance only).
The post holder must have the ability to travel between the allocated churches, public transport is available in part of the area but not the whole. Mileage expenses for travel between the churches will follow up to date HMRC guidelines (currently 45p/mile up to 10,000 miles per annum and 25p thereafter). Use of public transport is encouraged where appropriate and will be reimbursed fully.
When necessary the post holder will also be expected to travel to the Yorkshire Synod offices in Morley, Leeds.
Up to 28 hours per week including some evenings and weekends.
Fixed term 4 years. The post is subject to a 6-month probationary period and an annual appraisal process.
Salary: £25,419 to £30,095 (pro-rata) depending upon qualifications and experience.
