Charity Secretary – Board of Trustees

We are looking for a committed and organised individual to join our Board of Trustees as Charity Secretary. This vital governance role ensures we meet our legal and administrative responsibilities while supporting the smooth running of the charity.

Cambridge ReUse is a small but growing Cambridge‑based charity dedicated to tackling furniture poverty. We support low‑income families and individuals by providing essential furniture and household goods, helping them to create safe, comfortable, and dignified homes.

As Charity Secretary you will support the Chair and Trustees in ensuring Cambridge ReUse complies with its governing document, charity law, and other relevant legislation and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Governance & Compliance
    • Ensure the charity complies with Charity Commission requirements and filings.
    • Maintain up‑to‑date records of trustees and governance documents.
    • Support the Chair in ensuring the Board functions effectively.
  • Meetings & Administration
    • Organise trustee meetings (usually quarterly) and the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
    • Prepare and circulate agendas, papers, and minutes in good time.
    • Keep accurate records of decisions and ensure actions are followed up.
  • Record Keeping
    • Maintain statutory registers and official documentation.
    • Ensure policies and procedures are up to date and accessible.
