We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Veterinary Care Assistant to join our team and train to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse through a government-funded college programme.
In this vital role, you’ll provide outstanding support to our clinical teams — including Veterinarians and Registered Veterinary Nurses — ensuring the highest standards of care for both our patients and clients.
Your responsibilities will include both clinical and non-clinical duties, helping to maintain exceptional animal welfare, client satisfaction, and the smooth running of the practice. You’ll also play an important role in maintaining a clean, safe, and biosecure environment, in line with our Health & Safety standards.
This is a fixed-term contract until RVN qualification (approximately 36 months, depending on college intake dates).
Summerhill Vets is a well-established group of practices across South Wales, and you’ll be based at our friendly Newport branch.
Located just off the M4, Newport offers excellent transport links — only 90 minutes by train to London, 45 minutes from Cardiff Airport, and close to the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park and the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
You’ll be joining a compassionate and supportive team of 5 Vets and 12 Nurses, alongside our dedicated support and administrative staff. Our team includes certificate holders in Emergency & Critical Care and Feline Medicine, ensuring an environment where you can learn, grow, and develop your skills.
If you’re ready to begin your journey toward becoming a qualified RVN and want to be part of a caring, progressive team, we’d love to hear from you.
