We have an exciting opportunity ideally for an experienced Urology Nurse to join our dynamic team of Urology Oncology Nurse Specialists Depending on experience and skills we would consider offering as an training post/band 5 with a view to progression when required skills met

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual who has a passion to deliver the highest standards of care to patients.

Main duties of the job

You will work in conjunction with the nurse specialist to provide specialist nursing care for patients with urology cancers, maintaining and developing a quality service .Ideally you should have experience or an interest in urology and possess excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, have the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and have a specialist interest in developing the service we provide

You should be able to demonstrate an ability to assist in the management of patients requiring specialist nursing care and facilitating multidisciplinary working across healthcare sectors. You will need good communication skills and be able to work as part of a team and autonomously when required

Qualifications
  • Registered NMC Nurse
  • Educated to Diploma/Degree level or equivalent level of education, training or experience
Knowledge/Experienc
  • Previous relevant health care experience
  • Evidence of post registration qualification/education to diploma, with an enthusiasm for learning
  • Commitment to continuing professional development; with an enthusiasm for learning
  • Relevant experience caring for patients with underlying urology conditions
  • Awareness and understanding of current issues within nursing, midwifery and the wider NHS
Skills
  • The ability to communicate with patients and their families/carers during a highly stressful time, requiring the ability to alter communication strategies dependent on the situation and the patient’s status
  • To demonstrate accuracy and clarity in verbal, written and electronic communication; and appropriate information storage
  • The ability to make judgments on problems requiring investigation, analysis e.g., assessment of patient condition, suitability for discharge

If you need to have a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check, as a requirement of the role, you will be required to repay the cost of obtaining a DBS check (£49.50) and this amount will be reclaimed from your first salary. From 1st February 2019 all new starters to the Trust are required to join the DBS update service as per Trust DBS Re-checking Policy which has an annual cost of £16. New employees who do not join the update service will be required to pay £49.50 for a new DBS check in 3 years time.

Please note that news starters with KGH are subject to a six month probationary period.
