Job description
Transport Planning Clerk

We are looking for a full‑time, permanent and a 12‑month fixed term contract, Transport Planning Clerk to join our team in Daventry, working in partnership with our customer Sainsburys.

You will be working on a 5‑day rotating shift pattern between the hours of 0 7:00 and 17:00 with hybrid working, where 40% of your time will be office based.

What you will do on a typical day:
  • Create and manage transport schedules across multiple sites, ensuring cost efficiency, service level compliance, and optimal trailer utilisation
  • Plan and execute backhaul requests and ad‑hoc transport movements, addressing failures and optimising routes to reduce empty legs and costs
  • Collate and validate operational data, produce financial reports, raise invoices, and maintain accurate KPI records
  • Liaise with hauliers, depots, and third parties to resolve issues, monitor haulier performance
  • Produce reports as requested in a timely manner
What you need to succeed at GXO:
