Here at GXO Logistics, we’re looking for a Transport First Line Shift Manager to join our team at B&Q’s Preston Brook Customer Distribution Centre (CDC). You’ll take responsibility for leading the transport operation during your shift, ensuring safety, service, cost and people management targets are achieved.

This is a full-time, permanent position. You will work Tuesday to Saturday, 09:00 – 19:00, however flexibility will be essential at peak times, this is logistics after all!

Pay, benefits and more:

You’ll be paid a salary of up to £34,000 per annum. You’ll also receive 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days so you can enjoy a positive work‑life balance. What you’ll do on a typical day:
  • Lead the transport team during your shift, ensuring all KPIs for safety, service and cost are achieved
  • Organise driver and vehicle rotas to meet planned targets and deadlines
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements, including the Road Traffic Act, tachograph policy and operator’s licence
  • Drive a proactive approach to Health & Safety, ensuring standards are met and exceeded
  • Manage investigations, disciplinary and grievance hearings as required
  • Support recruitment, training and development of the operations team
  • Maintain vehicle hygiene and daily checks via Microlise and CRM systems
What you need to succeed at GXO:
  • Demonstrable experience within a similar role, experience supervising a team and an operational understanding of a fast‑paced transport environment
  • Strong leadership skills with excellent communication skills, to champion a can‑do attitude
  • Strong understanding of transport compliance and driver targets
  • Experience of managing conflicting priorities, along with planning and organising skills
  • You will be comfortable taking responsibility demonstrating commitment and leading by example
