A local government organization is seeking a Projects Officer to join their Traffic Team. This role involves managing various traffic regulations, engaging with the public and other departments, and preparing reports based on data analysis. Candidates should possess strong communication skills, as the position requires interaction with residents and stakeholders. The organization offers a commitment to staff wellbeing, with benefits such as generous leave, a pension scheme, and hybrid working options.
We have a great opportunity for a Projects Officer to join our busy Traffic Team. The team’s duties are wide ranging, focusing on network management and highway regulation, and include Traffic Regulation Orders, traffic signs, parking, highway licensing, as well as highway obstruction and encroachment issues.
The role involves a significant level of contact with residents, customers, businesses and other Council departments. You will need good communication skills for face‑to‑face meetings, phone conversations and in writing, to prepare reports and responses to queries and requests. Specific tasks and projects are allocated between team members and there is a significant amount of reactive work to deal with urgent issues and requests, which means that the workload is varied.
You will be able to benefit from the wider team’s experience, working closely with other team members to gather the data and information required to develop traffic management options, identify the pros and cons of these options, present them in reports to elected councillors and stakeholders, and make officer recommendations. This post is suitable as a job sharing position.
The Council is committed to investing in the talent and wellbeing of our staff and can offer a generous annual leave allowance, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, comprehensive Health & Wellbeing initiatives and a reward package which recognises your contribution. We can offer flexible working practices, community engagement and volunteer activities and, as part of our commitment to you, promote continuous Learning & Development. In addition we also offer a growing range of discounts, rewards and savings.
Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
