Our role as a Contract Manufacturer is one, we are incredibly proud of and is one which allows us to be at the forefront of new manufacturing technologies and processes, bringing lifesaving products to patients worldwide.

Due to significant changes in the marketplace Kindeva is currently going through a period of substantial growth and we are looking for talented individuals to join our Clitheroe team.

Role Overview

Toolmakers are predominantly involved in the highly skilled, complex and specialist detailed work of manufacturing and maintaining the engineering tooling used to produce components, products and assemblies.

The successful applicant will spend the first year in full‑time education at the approved training provider, with block placements onsite at Kindeva. Subsequent years will be day release at the training provider.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • To undertake toolmaking duties by setting up and maintaining component Production Presses.
  • Manufacturing and maintaining tooling and spares to ensure that production targets are met whilst ensuring that quality is built into the manufacturing process in a safe manner.
  • Actively pursue improvements within the module, in Safety, cGMP and productivity performance.
  • Involves shift operation covering a wide variety of processes, procedures and equipment to produce metered dose inhalers (MDIs).
  • Work safely in line with behavioural safety principles.
  • Carry out maintenance and refurbishment of press tools / press tooling.
  • Work towards being competent in using manual machine tools i.e., lathes, milling machines, surface, cylindrical and internal grinding machines.
  • Routine preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with the asset care programme set out for each individual machine.
  • Manufacture and maintain a healthy supply of spares to minimise downtime.
  • Set up machines for change of job in a timely manner and authorise for production.
  • Read and interpret Technical Drawings / Technical Specifications.
  • Comply with the 10 rules of cGMP.
  • Use and develop appropriate diagnostic tools to assist in resolving machine problems.
  • Communicate with colleagues and team leaders at shift handover to ensure any problems are left with full detailed explanations.
  • Ensure clear concise documentation when populating manufacturing information sheets, intervention logs, layout sheets, in process checks, drawing systems etc.) and process checks are completed to required standards.
  • Contribute, initiate and support continuous improvement programmes.

Skills & Experience
  • GCSE or equivalent; a minimum of 3 including Maths & English at grade 5 or above is essential.
  • GCSE or equivalent in an engineering or technical subject desirable.
Training to be provided
  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence).
  • Level 3 Diploma or extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge).
  • Functional skills in English, Maths and ICT (if not already achieved).
