Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation of scientists? Ysgol Bro Dinefwr is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Science Teacher to join our experienced and committed team. The ability to teach through the medium of Welsh is desirable for this role (although not essential), ensuring an inclusive and engaging learning environment for all students.

Ysgol Bro Dinefwr is a bilingual category (T3) school located near the town of Llandeilo, on the banks of the River Tywi and in the shadow of Dinefwr Castle. It is a school of 1089 pupils providing education for students from Year 7 - 13 as well as a specialised Autism unit for 42 pupils. Education is provided in a rural setting and on a new site with excellent learning facilities. We are very proud to offer innovative education using our ‘Natur’ Outdoor Education Centre, which includes approximately half a acre of garden, an outdoor stage, polytunnels, a pond, and accommodation for our Goats, Chickens, and Ducks. Our aim is to create an environment of achievement and inclusivity for every member of our community to excel in their learning journey.

We are eager to appoint a teacher who can develop and deliver interesting lesson plans that align with the curriculum and are suitable for diverse learning styles. The successful candidate will use innovative teaching methods to foster curiosity and critical thinking among students, providing constructive feedback and support for students to enhance their understanding and mastery of scientific concepts and challenge them to learn more about science. As a forward‑thinking department, collaboration with the team will be essential to create interdisciplinary learning opportunities with a specific focus on developing an outdoor curriculum for students in years 7-9. The successful candidate will be required to contribute to the GCSE up to A Level curriculum, preparing students to meet the challenge of external examinations and achieve high standards of attainment. Ysgol Bro Dinefwr has a history of maintaining high standards of achievement across the continuum, ensuring that every student reaches their potential.

The successful candidate will be required to have a bachelor's degree in science. In addition to this, the successful candidate should have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience of teaching Science at the secondary school level to GCSE standard above.

We offer a wide range of benefits to staff, including a comprehensive and extensive personal development program, opportunities for close collaboration with peers both within and beyond the Science AOLE, and departmental support for sharing resources and developing new schemes of work. We take pride in offering a supportive and developmental environment with an ethos of sharing successful practices for the benefit of the whole community.
