A housing services organization in Stockport is seeking a Technical Surveyor to join their team. The role involves providing technical support, conducting surveys to diagnose disrepair issues, and managing repairs. Ideal candidates will have a relevant qualification and experience in social housing. Knowledge of building defects and legal requirements is essential. The position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact in the community through property management and improvement initiatives.
Permanent, Full time (37 hours per week). We have an exciting opportunity available for a Technical Surveyor to join our team to provide a technical support service for the business, working closely with a range of stakeholders to deliver a wide range of repairs services.
Working in a whole range of properties, you will conduct in depth surveys to assist with the diagnosis of disrepair issues and minor structural defects; carrying out work in progress visits and audit inspections to ensure that specifications and quality standards are complied with.
Preparing schedules of work and prioritising work as required, you must monitor completion dates and quality of contractor work and identify repairs to void dwellings as part of our process for the reletting of properties. You must also obtain accurate and detailed information about necessary repairs/improvements to properties, undertake a range of surveys, i.e. Stock Condition, Energy Efficiency and HHSRS.
This position would be suitable for surveying graduates or persons with a trade background that have a good understanding of building defects and their diagnosis. Ideally candidates would have a recognised building qualification (HNC or equivalent) and experience working in a social housing environment. Knowledge of the housing Disrepair protocol and the Landlords responsibilities is desirable. A comprehensive understanding of dampness and condensation related defects and resolutions is required. Candidates should also have experience of dealing with building contractors, a working knowledge of building contracts and knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements, such as Health and Safety, CDM, Asbestos at work, Party wall act etc.
