The Firm has created a Tax and Reporting Analyst position who will join the tax team with responsibilities across the global business. Core responsibilities include accurate preparation and timely filing of tax documents, development and co‑ordination of the Firm’s tax calendar, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations, and supporting the Firm’s internal Finance function and external statutory financial reporting.

Ideal candidate will be a CPA and have at least 2 years of public accounting experience with corporate tax and partnership tax. This role can be based in Burford’s UK Office and will report to the Senior Tax Manager and the Head of Tax. It is imperative that this individual is highly organized and has strong attention to detail.

Position Requirements
  • Act as a key contact to outside preparer and help to ensure accurate and timely tax filing.
  • Review U.S. federal and state/local income tax returns, quarterly tax estimates and extensions, including corporate and partnership tax return, schedule K-1s, state apportionment, tax basis and withholding taxes.
  • Prepare and respond to tax notices.
  • Conduct basic and complex tax research.
  • Provide support to the Finance team, including tax payments reconciliation, form 1099 filing, and other accounting and tax related projects.
  • Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.
  • Other ad‑hoc duties and projects as assigned within the Tax group.
Skills Desired
  • MST, EA and/or CPA preferred.
  • At least 2-3 years of corporate and partnership tax at a nationally recognized public accounting firm is required.
  • Familiarity with UK and European tax law.
  • Proactive, highly organized, and strong attention to detail; able to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexible with changes and alterations.
