We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our South Lanarkshire Justice Service management team and we are seeking to recruit a full-time team leader for our Unpaid Work Service. The position will be for a temporary 12-month period, however, there may be the opportunity for extension.

Responsibilities

The unpaid work team leader is responsible for the management of a Justice Social Work team containing both qualified Social Work staff and paraprofessionals. The team leader is required to fulfil managerial tasks including but not limited to the supervision of staff; allocation of work; quality control and improvement; and the chairing of multi‑agency meetings.

The successful candidate will be asked to contribute to the continuous development and improvement of Justice Social Work services and to ensure the effective delivery of Justice Social Work services to national and local standards for the benefit of service users and the wider community.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience of social work management, or support and training will be provided for an experienced qualified social worker who may be looking to take their first steps into a managerial role.
  • Experience or interest in leading and managing services, staff leadership and development, supporting people in conflict with the law, and an ability to work well as part of a busy team.
  • Manage a budget, analyse data and provide reports and feedback to senior managers.
  • Recent experience (within the last 12 months) of managing or having management oversight of statutory Justice orders.
  • Degree in Social Work (or relevant equivalent).
  • Registered with the SSSC and have current PVG and Disclosure checks completed.

  • Candidate must join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to a formal offer of employment.
  • An Overseas Criminal Records Check is required where applicants born outside the UK or have lived or worked outside the UK for a continuous period of three months in the past 10 years. The check must be translated into English and include an official statement confirming no history of or pending criminal record proceedings.
