Job description

InverCare provides Support and Care Services within the community across various regions in the West of Scotland, including Glasgow, North Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire, Perth and Kinross, East Renfrewshire, and Inverclyde.
We aim to deliver excellent care through our home support services for individuals with physical disabilities, general frailty, dementia, learning difficulties, palliative, and end-of-life care.

About the role

As a Supported Living Worker (SLW), you will be matched to a Person Profile and will work alongside the client.

The client is from Blairgowrie, one of ten children. He left school at fifteen to work for the Forestry Commission. At seventeen, he joined the Black Watch, and by twenty, he was in the Airborne Paratroopers. He left the Army after an incident on duty due to mental health issues. He later worked with diggers and dump trucks for a power line company but retired after a work-related accident that left him physically unable to continue. He has children he stays in touch with. He enjoys reading, especially military books, and has a quick sense of humor. He used to spend much of his time at home, engaging with passersby through his large living room window and receiving visits from friends.

Your support will focus on helping him with daily activities and encouraging him to pursue his hopes and aspirations—supporting him to live the life he wants.

This role offers a meaningful opportunity to support someone in achieving their goals and is also enjoyable!

We are looking for someone who is a good listener, enthusiastic, positive ('can do' attitude), and eager to learn. No prior care qualification or social care experience is necessary, as training will be provided, and there is an opportunity to work towards a professional qualification.

Shift Pattern: 24 hours including sleepovers and wake nights, 5 days over 7, including weekends.
