Job Description

We have a very exciting development opportunity at London Road in Warmley.

We are looking for a Mental Health Support Worker who will play a key role in further development of the new service.

We provide specialist support for up to 7 individuals with complex Mental Health needs in a new Mental Health service. It is a 24hr-service with core support and additional 1:1 hours.

The needs of the individuals are complex. Successful candidates will have experience of working in Mental Health Services and understand the challenges (and rewards) that this brings. Experience of working with individuals with potential to present with behaviours that can challenge is desired. The post includes weekend work and is direct support work with the people we support.

As a Support Worker, you will be a point of contact for those who need the extra help, be it help with maintaining family relationships, managing their medications or supporting someone through a difficult time by supporting their emotional well-being. By doing so, you will learn new skills as well as creating a fairer and more accessible world for those you care for.

The ideal candidate will be flexible and able to work a variety of shifts to meet the needs of the service. Staff are expected to work two weekends out of four in a calendar month, and rotas are compiled fairly to meet the needs of the people we support.

As an unsupervised support worker your responsibilities will include:

  • To encourage positive self-image and maintain health and wellbeing in the people we support.
  • Assisting with decision-making and promoting independence.
  • Support people to develop and maintain positive connections with family and friends.
  • House admin when required, this relates the recording information held regarding the people we support and will be communicated to you by the management team within the service as part of your training.
  • Daily household cleaning tasks including supporting people to manage their laundry, this is in line with infection control requirements.

The successful Support Worker will:

  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Have a caring manner and a tolerant nature.
  • Have basic IT skills however training will be provided on specific service requirements.
