# Support Worker### Job Introduction**This position does not meet the requirements for sponsorship under current UK immigration guidelines****The right candidate must hold the care certificate or NVQ level 2.****About Me**Rix House is a large Residential Care Home that provides 24hr person centred support to 10 individuals with physical and Learning Disabilities.We endeavour to create positive family relationships offering a good circle of support. There is a strong focus on supporting individuals' lives in a person centred way which includes various activities in the home and in the community, shopping, managing own budgets, going on holiday and cooking. We tailor our services to enable people to be as independent as possible.We currently have a long term plan to support individuals in their own homes (Supported Living) and we are working towards this goal. Due to this plan you will be asked to support in moving individuals to their own homes in the future.**Training and Development**We offer training to all those who want to develop their skills and competencies not just in the care sector but in other areas too. Please note accredited training will be offered after your probation period ends which is 6 months, and may include Diplomas and apprenticeships in health and social care.### Role ResponsibilityRix House is a large Residential Care Home in Keighley West Yorkshire, and we have high expectations for our staff. You will receive all the necessary training to support me and this will take place locally in either Keighley or Bradford**About the role*** Supporting me with my personal hygiene needs.* Supporting me in my own home and in the community with activities I like and try new activities I might like* Supporting me throughout the day with eating and drinking.* Supporting me to take my daily medication.* You will also be required to work alongside specialists, family and other staff at Rix House who are part of multi-disciplinary team.### The Ideal Candidate**You should be*** Experienced in supporting people with learning disabilities and autism.* Must hold the Care Certificate or a diploma in Health and Social Care.* Be resilient, patient and understanding.* Have good communication skills.* Have a good understanding of the medical condition of Epilepsy (full training will be provided for this).* Be consistent in your support approach.* Be able to use language effectively to enable me to widen my opportunities and understanding.* All my support is recorded on a handheld electronic device therefore you must be confident in the use of technology.* Be willing to support me out in the community on your own and push me in my wheelchair if this is needed.**You should have*** The right attitude!* A good attendance record.* Ability to work well as part of my core team and with other professionals involved in my support.As a leading health and social care provider with more than 300 locations across England, we take real pride in the services we offer.We run all of our services on a not-for-profit basis; instead, we invest every penny back into our services and people.
