Job summary

A supportive living organization in Cannock is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to empower individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs. You'll provide essential daily support, encourage independence, and monitor progress, making a real difference in the lives of those you assist. Ideal candidates will have a full UK driving license, experience in care, and a compassionate approach. Qualifications

  • A Full UK (manual) driving licence is required.
  • Minimum of one year’s experience working in care or support is desirable.

Your Role as a Support Worker

You’ll be part of a dedicated, hands‑on team supporting individuals with a range of complex needs such as Autism, Learning disabilities, Mental health conditions, & Challenging behaviour. To help the individual live safely and independently in their own homes. Your work will make a direct and lasting impact.

Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting individuals with essential daily tasks such as cooking, personal care, cleaning, and budgeting
  • Encouraging independence and building confidence through meaningful activities and community access
  • Being a calm, reliable presence during difficult times, offering emotional reassurance and structure
  • Promoting routines and relationships that help people feel safe, respected, and included
  • Monitoring and recording progress, recognising and celebrating small wins every day
  • Working regular 12‑hour shifts — including waking nights — to provide consistent and high‑quality care
What We’re Looking For
  • A Full UK (manual) driving licence
  • A minimum of one year’s experience working in care or support (desirable)
  • Compassion, resilience, and emotional intelligence
  • Confidence working with individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and behaviours that challenge
  • Basic IT skills for communication and record‑keeping
  • Flexibility to work across services in Shropshire and Staffordshire
  • A team‑first attitude and commitment to delivering person‑centred care

Additional Information
  • This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. All criminal convictions, including spent ones, must be declared.
