Our vision for Single Corporate Services Isle of Wight NHS Trust (IWT) and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust (PHU) have a shared vision of a single corporate service across our two organisations, supported by a single set of identical systems and processes, under joint leadership, to drive significant efficiencies, improve employee experience, and return time to patient care.

This vacancy is part of the Single Corporate Services Division.

The creation of a single corporate service is essential for us to support our clinical and operational services, and our wider transformation programme.

Main duties of the job
  • Operate the Inventory Management System to process, track and replenish stock.
  • Use an advanced Inventory Management System, utilising barcode technology to order medical and surgical products.
  • Pick, pack and deliver medical and surgical supplies to wards and departments.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and assist with stock audits.
  • Provide friendly, efficient customer service to clinical and non-clinical teams.
  • Prioritise workload to meet deadlines and respond to urgent requests.
  • Perform light manual handling as required and follow health and safety procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of supply chain processes.

The single corporate service is delivered across both organisation. You may be based at either IWT or PHU and individuals may be required to undertake business travel between sites. For leaders managing staff across multi-site locations, you will need to be visible and provide in person leadership. The arrangements and frequency will be agreed locally.

Job responsibilities

This vacancy is open to employees of Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust only.

Band: 3 Salary £24,937 - £26,598 per annum

Hours: Full Time, 37.5 per week

Location:St Mary's Hospital (IOW), Parkhurst Road, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 5TG

Join our friendly Procurement and Supply Department and play a key role keeping wards and departments at Queen Alexandra Hospital and St Marys Hospital, Isle of Wight, stocked and ready to treat patients.

Qualifications
  • Education to GCSE or equivalent, including Mathematics and English NVQ Level 3 or CIPS Foundation Level
  • Training in moving and handling goods.
Experience
  • Experience of working in a service industry; Ability to communicate in written and oral English; Ability to operate a personal computer with knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software; Ability to understand and work with financial, administrative and personnel processes and practices.
  • Previous experience in supply chain, stock control, retail, hospitality or a hospital environment is desirable but not essential.
Additional criteria
  • Enthusiastic team player with a positive, customer focused attitude; Keyboard and basic IT skills; Good verbal communication and the ability to liaise effectively with colleagues and clinical teams; Ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines in a fast paced environment; Willingness to undertake light lifting and follow manual handling guidance.
  • The skill to prioritise your workload whilst understanding that you will have to meet deadlines.
