Student Mentor

Location: A supportive college in Gloucestershire

Rate: £16–£17 per hour + 12.07% holiday pay (PAYE, weekly)

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Student Mentor to support and guide learners in their academic and personal development. This paid position provides an excellent opportunity to foster a positive learning environment, build meaningful relationships, and contribute to students’ success. The ideal candidate will possess strong teaching skills, patience, and a genuine passion for helping others thrive.

Role Overview

As a Student Mentor, you will provide tailored support to students, helping them overcome challenges and reach their potential. You will work closely with learners, educators, and families to create a nurturing and motivating experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide academic support and tutoring across a range of subjects.
  • Offer guidance on study techniques, organisation, and time management.
  • Act as a positive role model, encouraging confidence and motivation.
  • Assist in planning and delivering educational activities, workshops, and mentoring sessions.
  • Monitor and report on student progress to educators or programme coordinators.
  • Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff about needs and achievements.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring (desirable).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Genuine passion for education and supporting student growth.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Prior experience working with young people is advantageous but not essential.
